Touch Tanks For Kids enables our most precious resource, our children, to study, respect and gain appreciation for the world's oceans, through a unique hands-on educational program.  Life lessons taught in the classroom empower the children to realize that individuals acting collectively can positively change our world.

Established in 2005, Touch Tanks For Kids is a charitable organization that challenges each of us to live to our fullest potential as good stewards of our natural resources while building a strong economy with informed environmental policies and innovative solutions.  Touch Tank For Kids has three main goals within the organization: To improve education with better learning tools, to improve the environment by increased awareness, and to improve the economy through environmental innovations.

touchtankTouch Tanks For Kids is a publicly supported 501(c) 3 nonprofit developed to assist and strengthen our nation’s educational institutions as we work to build a diverse environmentally innovated economy. They are motivated by improving student awareness of marine science, reports of depleting natural resources, a need for reliable food supply and a strong desire to make a difference.

The Touch Tank is constructed from acrylic and is designed to provide years of classroom enjoyment. Child-friendly, mobile, and easy to maintain design supports sea life as students learn the about the eco-system.  Touch Tanks are effective hands-on learning tools. By recreating the marine environment, students experience the beauty and magic of the earth's eco-systems and discover the complexity of the symbiotic relationships that ensure the earth's environmental balance. Students are encouraged to explore by handling sea creatures and experiencing the wonders of nature

touchtankTouch Tanks provide healthy living conditions for the sea life that naturally dwell in the shallow waters of lakes, rivers, and coastal waters. Students are able to observe how the animals would interact in their native habitat. Touch Tanks employ a sophisticated water purification system. The user-friendly filtration system allows participants to take an active role in the maintenance and upkeep of the tank, becoming more involved with the recreated eco-system.

Getting back to nature is a great way to see how one habitat directly affects another. Each year, Touch Tanks For Kids hosts various beach and state park cleanings. Please call 207.282.2000 for more information or to volunteer.
